Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal, has unveiled its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, "Building Dreams & Forest," on World Biodiversity Day. This strategic campaign aims to restore and rejuvenate the Chakhandol Community Forest, which fell victim to illegal sand mining and deforestation in 2062 B.S.
In collaboration with the Revolution Project, Cimex will spearhead the plantation of 1500 trees using the innovative Miyawaki technique. The initiative aligns with BYD's vision to "Cool the Earth by One Degree" and showcases the company's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
The Chakhandol Community Forest, once a thriving ecosystem teeming with diverse flora and fauna, has suffered greatly in the past. However, through the "Building Dreams & Forest" campaign, Cimex aims to revive the forest's former glory by reintroducing native tree species and creating a conducive environment for their growth.
This ambitious endeavour will not only contribute to reforesting the area but also lead to the return of 7-8 different species of birds, enhancing the ecological balance of the region. Additionally, the soil preparation techniques involve introducing native microbes and restoring the vital micro-organisms necessary for a healthy and thriving ecosystem.
Kathmandu, being the most polluted city in the world, has been grappling with the harmful effects of air pollution for far too long. With its holistic approach, the "Building Dreams & Forest" initiative promises to make a significant impact on the environment as well as its inhabitants. In the first year of the plantation, the project is projected to produce a staggering 827 tons of oxygen and store 310 tons of carbon. Over the span of five years, the BYD Forest aims to generate an impressive 4133 tons of oxygen while sequestering 1550 tons of carbon.
"Our 'Building Dreams & Forest' campaign epitomizes BYD's core values and commitment to creating a sustainable future," stated Sameer Shrestha, the Chief Marketing Officer of Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd. "We are proud to collaborate with the Revolution Project and leverage technological innovation to restore the Chakhandol Community Forest. This initiative not only demonstrates our dedication to combating environmental degradation but also inspires others to take action and contribute to biodiversity conservation."
The campaign announcement coincides with World Biodiversity Day, a globally recognized event that celebrates and raises awareness about the importance of preserving biodiversity for the well-being of our planet and future generations.
